PDM and Specifications Management

Product data management

The PDM system operates in multiple languages and includes a revolutionary 'Form Designer' that gives users the ability to design and adapt specification templates and other forms. The system is therefore highly customisable without the need for a programming resource.

Specification templates and other forms can be category-specific for both food and non-food and multiple formats can be maintained in the same database. The PDM system is therefore a highly effective tool for the management of data in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and a multitude of other industries.

Specifications and other forms can be accepted from other systems and processed from suppliers by e-mail, or on the web using Hamilton Grant's dedicated site, hgrant.net.

The PDM system includes powerful in-built searching and reporting facilites. Any form-based information can be collected and stored in the flexible database structure, where it can be queried, and merged with an unlimited number of user-defined word-processor templates.

The system can also be used in conjunction with our world-renowned Recipe Management system, creating a single, integrated, Technical Management System.

Electronic pictures, for example of the front or back of packaging, bar-codes, etc. can be included in any form, enabling a comprehensive and identifiable view of a product.

Hot-links to related files can also be included. These can be used for links to word-processor documents, spreadsheets, web documents and web sites, thereby enabling all relevant data to be accessible from a central place.

The system's Explorer Bar, similar to Windows Explorer, allows data to be organised in a logical and structured way. For example, product specifications can be organised in folders according to categories or customers.

A powerful and user-friendly "data mapping" function enables product information to be automatically presented in a variety of formats. This means that the PDM system can be used as the strategic interface between suppliers, customers, and industry standards associations around the world.
